Adam Montgomery, the Scot who took his first breath on 18 July 2002, is currently 22 years of age. A defensive specialist who claims the left back position as his domain, he currently showcases his skills whilst adorned with the number 33 jersey for Queen's Park. Standing proud at 5ft 8in (1.73m) and tipping the scales at 9st 6lb (60kg), Montgomery is an imposing figure on the pitch.
Montgomery's journey to Queen's Park tells a tale of regular migrations. Aged just 7, in July 2009, he joined Celtic as a trainee. After cutting his teeth in the youth and reserve squads, he saw action in the first team for the Hoops during the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons, making two and eight league appearances respectively. This initiation into the rigours of the Scottish Premiership was soon supplemented by loan stints at Aberdeen and St Johnstone. At Aberdeen, he made seven first team appearances in the latter half of the 2021/2022 season. Upon returning to the Hoops, he made a further eight appearances in the 2022/23 season before his loan to St Johnstone where he featured in 28 league games in 2022/23.
Despite the intense speculation about his immediate future, Montgomery, again returned to Celtic in June 2023, once his loan spell with St Johnstone was completed. He added to his experience and stock in the Premiership, as reflected by additional league appearances for Celtic the same year. His endurance and services were rewarded in July when he was loaned to Fleetwood Town in the League Two in England. The stint, however, was brief and by January 2024, he was back again with Celtic.
Back in Scotland, the tireless Montgomery promptly made his way to Motherwell for a loan stint in January 2024, promptly stitched into the very fabric of Motherwell's Premiership team. Unfortunately, the stint was cut short in February, culminating in another return to the Hoops where he added to his rows of appearances.
Montgomery made yet another move in February 2025, trading the familiarity of Celtic for the historic Queen's Park in the Championship. So far, he has donned his boots for the team ten times, marking his presence with a goal in the current 2024/25 season. Notably, he also made a cameo in the Scottish Cup for Queen's Park, coming on as a substitute.
In the end, moving around in quick succession has allowed Montgomery to accumulate a wealth of experience in a relatively short amount of time. From Celtic to Queen's Park via Aberdeen, St Johnstone, Fleetwood and Motherwell - the 22-year-old Scott has already made notable strides in the beautiful game.
