Born on 26 February 1997, Albian Ajeti is a Swiss forward who primarily plays as a striker for Basel. Standing at 6ft (1.83m) tall and weighing in at 12st 1lb (77kg), Ajeti dons the number 23 jersey for his team.
Ajeti's professional football career commenced with Basel in January 2014, taking the leap from their youth system into the first team of the Swiss Super League. His early seasons saw a handful of appearances with sporadic goals, but he developed into a key attacker for Basel in the 2017 - 2018 and 2018 - 2019 seasons, where he made over 25 appearances and scored 14 goals each season. Since his return to Basel in 2024, Ajeti has continued to demonstrate his abilities despite somewhat limited game time in the current 2024 - 2025 season, making eight first team appearances and scoring four goals.
Ajeti briefly transferred to Augsburg in the German Bundesliga in January 2016 for a fee of around £700k, but after a solitary first team appearance, he then went on loan back in Switzerland to St. Gallen in August 2016 for a season. His performances there convinced St. Gallen to buy him outright in July 2017 for an approximate sum of £850k.
He was soon back at Basel though, transferring back in October 2017 for a fee of around £1.3m. His performances there caught the attention of West Ham United, who brought him to the English Premier League in August 2019 for around £8m. Yet Ajeti struggled for consistent game time in England, making only nine first team appearances in his debut season.
Less than a year later, Ajeti transferred to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. His time at Celtic Park would best be described as middling, with his first season in 2020 - 2021 consisting of 20 first team appearances and six goals. The following 2021 - 2022 season only saw seven first team appearances and two goals. It was following this reduced success that the Swiss forward left Celtic in August 2022 on loan to Sturm Graz in Austria.
Ajeti's post-Celtic career saw him ping-pong across Europe. Firstly to Gaziantep in the Turkish Süper Lig in September 2023 for a fee of around £500k, only to leave for his original club Basel once more in February 2024. Despite the movement, Ajeti remains a dependable forward for any side requiring a goal or two.
