January of 2019 saw Gutman making a transatlantic shift when he transferred from Indiana Hoosiers to Celtic FC in the Scottish Premiership. Barely a month went by, however, before he moved back stateside, joining Charlotte Independence of the USL Championship on loan from Celtic in February.
August 2019 was again a turning point for the sturdy defender as he was loaned from Celtic to FC Cincinnati of Major League Soccer (MLS). In his debut season at FC Cincinnati, Gutman made it to the field for eight league matches, and followed it up with 21 appearances in the 2020 season.

However, that same year, he was loaned to New York Red Bulls, another MLS team, where he added 22 appearances and two goals to his growing career. And by January 2022, his loan term came to an end and he returned to Atlanta United. Again, he made 25 appearances and four goals in that season, followed by 18 appearances and three goals in the 2023 season.
In July 2023, he transferred from Atlanta United to Colorado Rapids, also in the MLS, for a fee ballparking around £430k. Gutman made 12 first team appearances and scored once for the Rapids in the remainder of the 2023 season.
January 2024 saw yet another change for Gutman as he transferred from Colorado Rapids to Chicago Fire, with a price tag in the region of £360k. As of the current season, he has appeared in 11 matches and has scored once for his current team.
