Diego Laxalt, an Uruguayan-born footballer, was born on 7 February 1993 and primarily functions as a defender, predominantly playing as a left back for Dynamo Moscow. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) tall and weighing 10st 5lb (66kg), he carries the number 93 across his jersey in honour of his birth year. Beginning his journey with Defensor Sporting in the Primera División in Uruguay, he found his way to Inter Milan in Italy's Serie A in July 2013. The transfer cost, as reported by Transfermarkt, was around £2m.
His tenure with Inter Milan saw him loaned out quite a few times to different clubs within the Serie A. His first loan spell, also in 2013, was to Bologna where he had made 15 first team appearances and successfully scored two goals in the 2013-2014 league matches. Following this, in August 2014 he was then transferred on loan to Empoli making four league match appearances.
January of 2015 marked a turning point for Laxalt, where he was transferred on loan once again from Inter Milan to play for Genoa. His extended stay at the latter club, spanning from the 2014 - 2015 season till 2017 - 2018 season, had him play actively for the team and maintain a steady scoring performance. He made eight, 35, 36 and 32 first team appearances respectively and amassed a total of 7 goals over these seasons. Genoa purchased Laxalt outright in July 2016 for a fee of around £3.4m, in contrast to his previous loan arrangements.
Genoa's relation with Laxalt ended in August 2018, with AC Milan acquiring him for an undisclosed fee. He had a less than dazzling spell at Milan between the 2018 - 2019 and 2019 - 2020 seasons, with just 24 league appearances to his name. He, however, saw more action during his subsequent loan to Torino in the 2019 - 2020 season.
However, it was the loan spell with Celtic in the Premiership in Scotland during the 2020 - 2021 season that saw him shine further. Laxalt made 17 first team appearances and registered one goal during his time with Celtic. Albeit being with Celtic for just a season, his time at the club was marked by great spirit and commendable play, truly showing his potential to be a leading figure in the team.
Following his successful stint at Celtic, Laxalt returned to AC Milan before finally transferring to Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Premier League in July 2021. The transfer fee, according to Transfermarkt, was around £3.2m. His recent seasons, from 2021 till the current 2024-2025 season, show him to be a strong presence in the team, having made a combined total of 55 first-team appearances for Dynamo Moscow.
