Preparing ourselves for a remarkable journey through the career of Dylan McGeouch, born in Scotland on 15 January 1993, shall we? A central midfielder, for those who care for specifics, now plying his trade at Carlisle United, striding around the pitch in his number 21 jersey. With a stature of 5ft 10in (1.78m) and a weight of 10st 12lb (69kg), I dare say he's fit enough to kick a ball.
The midnight oil surely must have been burning within the Scottish Premiership when McGeouch shifted from Rangers to Celtic in July 2011. The amount it was for? Not disclosed, leaving us all in unbearable suspense. Anyway, into the green and white hoops he went, treated us to the view of him trotting out a grand total of six times in his debut season, even breaking the net once.
His second season with Celtic saw the limelight 12 times. After a sabbatical to Coventry City, in that pulsating Championship in England in January 2014, our hero returned to Celtic. McGeouch punctuated the match sheet only twice in those two seasons! He did prove himself useful in his loan stint at Hibernian though, clocking 20 appearances and even surprising spectators with two goals.
Then, in a twist that shocked no one, McGeouch jumped back to Hibernian in August 2015. The only difference this time? The switch from Celtic to Hibs was not of the temporary nature. His time there was filled with the excitement of running around the pitch for a staggering 92 times.
Intrigue was once again at a pitch when he transferred southbound to Sunderland in the Championship, before realising the charm of Scotland is simply irreplaceable, migrating back to Aberdeen in January 2020. Bless him, he took the field 36 times for The Dons over two and a half seasons. Were there goals? Immaterial.
After a brief stint with the Forest Green Rovers, he ascended once again into the footballing excellence of League Two with Carlisle United in July 2023. Six appearances in, and he's already showcasing his vast array of talent. He even started in an EFL Trophy match for Carlisle United in the 2024 - 2025 season. What an absolutely riveting journey it has been following McGeouch's career. Truly, the highs and lows of football in microcosm.
