Born on 4 August 1994, Jozo Šimunović put his stake in the ground as a solid central defender hailing from Croatia. Šimunović, standing at a sturdy 6ft 2in and weighing in at 12st 10lb, built a career founded on defensive agility.
He began at Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian HNL in July 2012. His debut season, 2012 - 2013, saw him make three first team appearances, managing to net one goal. Here, he made an additional 49 appearances and scored another goal until September 2015.
After shifting gears from his home country, Šimunović made his move to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership in 2015. His inaugural season saw him make 11 first team appearances and score one goal. Over the course of his time at Celtic Park, Šimunović had his name on the first team sheet 75 times, peppering the goal with a total of five goals.
In June 2020, he parted ways with the Hoops, and by October 2021, had found his footing again at Gorica in the HNL. He played out another season before moving on in June 2022.
