Kundai Benyu is a gifted footballer whose primary role is central midfield. Born on 12th December 1997, Benyu is currently signed to Vestri in Iceland. Hailing from England, he stands at 5 feet 9 inches (1.76m) and weighs 11 stone 11 pounds (75kg). An interesting facet of his career is his representation of the Zimbabwe national team.
Benyu's professional journey began at Ipswich Town as a trainee, joining them in the Premier League in July 2014. His next move came as a loan in December 2016, where he transferred to Aldershot Town in the National League. It was during his time at Aldershot in the 2016-2017 season that Benyu began to gain a following thanks to his impressive tally of five goals in 22 first team appearances.
In July 2017, Benyu took a significant step in his career by transferring to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. The details of the fee remain undisclosed. Unfortunately, his time at Celtic was rather subdued with only one first team appearance in league matches for the 2017-2018 season.
Seeking more play time, Benyu transferred on loan to Oldham Athletic in the National League in England in January 2018. His stint at Oldham saw a similar pattern to Celtic with him only making two first team appearances in league matches that season. In June of the same year, Benyu returned to Celtic on completion of his loan.
Despite his return to Celtic, Benyu's fortunes didn't improve, gaining one more first team appearance in the 2017 - 2018 season. In a bid to reignite his career, Benyu was loaned out to Helsingborgs IF in the Swedish Superettan in February 2019. His impact there was more significant, with 10 first team appearances and a goal under his belt during the 2019 season.
Benyu returned to Celtic in January 2020 from his loan spell at Helsingborgs, but the pattern of limited first team appearances continued, with him only making one appearance in the following season. In October 2020, he transferred from Celtic to Wealdstone in the National League in England.
Benyu's newest chapter began in February 2021, when he transferred from Wealdstone to Vestri in the Besta deild karla in Iceland. At the time of writing, his first team appearances for the current 2024 season at Vestri are yet to start.
