Born in Scotland on the 20th of August 1990, Leigh Griffiths is a well-known striker currently giving the forward line a boost for Mandurah City. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing in at 10st 1lb (64kg), his physicality is apparent.
Griffiths started his professional football career with Livingston in the Scottish Championship, joining their ranks in December 2006. During his maiden season (2006 - 2007), he made a marked contribution with four appearances and a goal to his credit. His tenure saw him steadily improve, with a showing of five and eighteen goals in the seasons of 2007 - 2008 and 2008 - 2009, respectively.
June 2009 saw Griffiths making a move to Dundee in the Premiership, for a modest sum of approximately £130k. Here, he enjoyed a steady run with thirteen, eight, and two goals across the 2009 - 2010, 2010 - 2011, and 2021 - 2022 seasons respectively.
In January 2011, Griffiths made his first venture into English football, transferring to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League for a fee of around £150k. His time at the Wolves was brief, with Griffiths being loaned back to Scotland and Hibernian in August of the same year.
Back on familiar turf, Griffiths got his scoring boots back on, netting eight and twenty-three goals in the 2011 - 2012 and 2012 - 2013 seasons for Hibernian, respectively. On loan completion in July 2013, he returned to Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he registered twelve goals in the 2013 - 2014 season.
The New Year of 2014 brought another change, as Griffiths transferred to Celtic, costing the Premiership outfit around £1m. His time at Celtic is perhaps the most memorable of his career. Over a number of seasons, Griffiths proved a prolific scorer, with peaks of fourteen, thirty-one and twelve goals in the 2014 - 2015, 2015 - 2016 and 2016 - 2017 seasons. His time at Celtic also saw tougher spells, with downturns seen in subsequent seasons. Despite this mixed experience, his run between 2018 - 2021 ended with a respectable total of seventeen goals across three seasons.
Griffiths was loaned back again to Dundee during 2021 - 2022, before embarking on a succession of transfers beginning with Falkirk in February 2022 and culminating in Mandurah City in Australia come August 2022. As of the current 2024 - 2025 season with Mandurah City, Griffiths is yet to make a first-team appearance.
