Marco Tilio, born on 23 August 2001, is a forward originally from Australia, who primarily plays as a left winger for Celtic. At a modest height of 5ft 6in (1.7m) and weighing in at a sprightly 10st 7lb (67kg), Tilio brings agility and speed to the team. His number 23 jersey can often be seen darting down the wing, creating opportunities for his squad and troubling defences. He also holds the honour of having represented the Australia national team, further testament to his skills and potential.
Currently, Tilio's market value is estimated to be around €900k (£766k), according to Transfermarkt. His contract with Celtic has a further 2 years and 10 months left to run, due to expire on 31 May 2028.
Prior to his arrival at Celtic, Tilio started his career in July 2018 at Sydney FC in the A-League in Australia. His debut season of 2019 - 2020 was promising, making three first team appearances and scoring one goal in league matches.
In September 2020, Tilio transferred from Sydney FC to Melbourne City. At Melbourne City, he made significant strides in his development, gradually increasing his goal tally season by season. His best season came in 2022 - 2023 when he made 26 appearances and scored nine goals in league matches.
In July 2023, Tilio took a significant leap forwards in his career by moving from Melbourne City to Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, a transfer that cost Celtic around £1.1m. His time at Celtic has not resulted in a large volume of first team appearances, with only two to his name in the 2023 - 2024 season, and none so far in the current 2025 - 2026 season.
In February 2024, Tilio returned to Melbourne City on loan from Celtic. This gave him the opportunity for further development and game time. He had a productive tenure, making numerous appearances and adding to his goal tally.
Upon the conclusion of his loan in June 2025, Tilio made his return to Celtic. His first team appearances have been limited upon his return, however his previous performances give the Celtic faithful hope for more impactful contributions in the future.
