Stuart Findlay, born in Scotland on 14 September 1995 (now aged 29), wears the number 17 jersey for Kilmarnock as a central defender. Standing at 1.91m tall (6ft 3in) and weighing in at 82kg (12st 12lb), this durable defender has a commendable resume of football appearances across various levels of play.
Findlay's early football career saw him honed his craft as part of Celtic Football Club in the Premiership in Scotland. In January 2014, he was loaned to Greenock Morton in the Championship in Scotland. Here, Findlay made his mark in the 2013 - 2014 season where he made 14 first team appearances in league matches.
Diversity was the name of the game for Findlay in his early Celtic years, as January 2015 saw him temporarily transferred to Dumbarton in League One in Scotland, again on loan. Over the course of the 2014 - 2015 season, Findlay featured 15 times for Dumbarton in league matches.
Findlay found himself on the move once more in July 2015, this time being loaned from Celtic to fellow Premiership side Kilmarnock. There, he seemed to find his footing, making 22 appearances in the 2015 - 2016 season. Notably, he had prominent roles in the 2017 - 2020 seasons where he made a combined total of 81 appearances while also scoring seven goals.
In July 2016, Findlay made a considerable shift southwards, transferring from Celtic to prestigious English Premier League side Newcastle United. His time with the Magpies was however fleeting as he would return on loan to Kilmarnock in August 2017, a move that was later made permanent in July 2018.
In a remarkably consistent stint at Kilmarnock, Findlay maintained steady appearances in the seasons following his permanent move. The highlight of his time may arguably be the 2023 – 2024 season where he made 37 first team appearances in league matches.
Despite his success at Kilmarnock, Findlay made the decision to transfer to the Philadelphia Union in the MLS in February 2021 for a fee of around £250k. His stay in the United States was fleeting, making a combined 11 appearances in the 2021 and 2022 MLS seasons.
In July 2022, Findlay made a return to British soil, this time to Oxford United in the Championship. His single-season stay saw him make 28 first team league appearances. His one-time yearning for home saw him return on loan to Kilmarnock in July 2023, where he has continued to make steady appearances.
In the 2024 - 2025 season, besides his domestic league commitments, Findlay participated in the League Cup and Europa League Qualifiers for Kilmarnock, showing the significant role he plays in the club's football endeavours.
