Timothy Weah, or young Timo as we fondly remember, born on 22 February 2000 (age 24), hails from the United States. He's not just any footballer, mind you. This lad puts his boots on for Juventus. Primarily a right-winger but equally adept as a experienced forward, Weah stands at a commanding 6ft tall or 1.83m if you do lean on the continental side. Weighing in at 10st 5lb (66kg), the potent number 22 has had the honour of turning out for his home nation, the United States, on the national stage.
Weah's football journey saw him joining the prestigious academy of Paris Saint-Germain in Ligue 1, France as a trainee in July 2014. He burst into the first team environment in the 2017-2018 season with three appearances under his belt. This tally was followed by a further two appearances and one goal in the next season for the Parisian giant.
For the curious Celtic connoisseur, it was January 2019 when Weah graced our dear old club with his promising talent on a loan deal. He wasn't just a player filling a jersey; Weah was a revelation in his short tenure. In the 2018-2019 season at Celtic, he recorded 13 appearances, netting three times. Those goals, a trio of precious memories, each one adorned with the beauty and promise of a talent we were lucky enough to glimpse at Celtic.
When Weah's loan spell ended, he headed back to France, joining Ligue 1 side Lille in July 2019 for a tidy sum of around £9 million. At Lille, he logged a lot of playing minutes across various seasons, notably scoring three goals in both the 2020-2021 and 2021-2022 seasons.
In July 2023, he bid adieu to Lille and made his way to the historic Juventus in Serie A, Italy. The move was reported to be in the region of £10 million. In just his first season at Juventus, Weah made 30 first team appearances. In the ongoing 2024-2025 season, Weah has already chipped in with three appearances and one goal.
Not a man to shy away from the limelight, he donned his national colours at the Copa America 2024 wherein he started in two matches. Additionally, he made a single appearance as a substitute for Juventus in the high-stakes 2024-2025 Champions League. A lad showing no signs of slowing down, one can merely anticipate how he will continue to contribute to both his club and country in the years to come.
