Adam Devine, born on 25th March 2003, is a perfectly serviceable defender who primarily flexes his soccer muscles as a right back for Rangers, or so he'd have us believe. He's a rather moderate 6 feet tall (1.83m for those interested in such European frivolities) and weighs in at a not too shabby 11 stone 4 pounds (72kg, again for the continental enthusiasts). And for the jersey enthusiasts amongst you, he swathes his sporting physique in the not-so-lucky number 44.
Now, our dear Adam joined the mighty Gers back in the idyllic summer of July 2018 as a fresh-faced trainee. Obviously, he had to pay his dues and spent a few years without even a sniff of first team action. However, the long-awaited chance finally came in the 2021-2022 season, when he was granted the honour of gracing the field for a whopping two league matches. I'm sure you can understand the general excitement.
In the illustrious Scottish football system, we have what we call 'loans' - not of the monetary variety, mind you. Young Devine was shuttled off to Partick Thistle in March 2021, which was followed by an equally eventful stint at Brechin City - a club more commonly associated with the Scottish Highland League than civilisation.
The 2023-2024 season saw him knocking on Motherwell's door, where he actually played ten enthralling league matches and - wait for it - scored a goal! Seeing as hitting the back of the net isn't really a defender's primary concern, we can't help but applaud this unexpected feat.
Our journeyman, Devine, it would seem, is on a heartbreaking tour of Scottish football, with regular returns to Rangers between his loan spells. It's almost like a unrequited love story of truly Celtic proportions.
