Alex Gogic, a Cypriot-born midfielder with a primary role of central defensive midfielder currently for St Mirren, was born on the 13th of April, 1994. With a stature of 1.85m (around 6ft) and a weight of 83kg (approximately 13st), Gogic cuts an imposing figure on the pitch in his number 13 jersey, also having the honour to represent his birth nation, Cyprus, on the international stage.
In the summer of 2013, Gogic began his journey in professional football by moving from Olympiacos, based in Greece's Super League, to Swansea City in England's Championship Division. After nearly four years at the English club, Gogic took a northern leap to Scottish football by joining Hamilton Academical in the Championship Division. His tenure at Hamilton proved him to be a solid and dare-fold contributor — from making seven first-team appearances in his debut season of 2016-2017, to progressively making 18, 16, and 29 appearances in the subsequent seasons, even notching up a couple of goals in the process.
The summer of 2020 saw Gogic ascend to the Scottish Premiership, making a switch from Hamilton to Hibernian. Despite his stay being relatively short-lived, Gogic maintained a stable performance, making a total of 43 first-team appearances and scoring once in his two seasons at the club. Yet, the winter transfer window of 2022 once again brought about a change in Gogic's career trajectory. He moved, this time on loan, to another Premiership outfit, St Mirren, where he has been plying his trade ever since.
Across the two full seasons of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024, Gogic's contributions for St Mirren have been commendable. He racked up a hefty 68 games, with noteworthy scoring contributions of two goals each season. Even in the ongoing 2024-2025 season, Gogic's run seems undeterred with 21 appearances and a solitary goal already to his credit.
In parallel with his club career, Gogic has also made his mark in cup and international football. He started once in St Mirren's 2024-2025 League Cup run while having a total of nine starts (seven in the Euro Qualifiers 2022-2024 and two in the Nations League 2024-2025) for Cyprus and even featuring as a substitute once. Also, in the Conference League Qualifiers 2024-2025, Gogic marked four starts for St Mirren, symbolising his growing influence in the squad.
