Ah, Alex Lowry, a fresh-faced Scottish lad born on the long day of 23 June 2003. A midfielder who specialises in the delicate art of attacking from the centre, presently showing his wares for Rangers. Standing at a rather relatable height of 5ft 10in (1.8m for our metric amigos), and weighing in at 11st 4lb (72kg if you're allergic to imperial measurements), he can also be identified darting around the pitch in the eye-catching number 51 jersey.
Now, Lowry's career, like a slow-burning drama, didn't explode straight off the bat. Oh no, it was July 2020 when the lad joined Rangers as a trainee, still wet behind the ears and all. Before becoming a fully-fledged professional, there were more benches than match starts in his initial time at Rangers. His debut season, in 2021-2022, saw him stumble onto the first team field for a grand total of four league matches, even managing to slot one into the onion bag. In the subsequent season, 2022-2023, he managed to grace the field five times, but alas, no goals graced his stat sheet. As for the current season, 2024-2025, the poor sod hasn't managed to make a Marmite sandwich, let alone a first team appearance.
Like a brief summer fling, Lowry left the bosom of Rangers for the welcoming arms of Hearts in August 2023, a fleeting encounter facilitated by a loan agreement. That season with Hearts, 2023-2024, turned out to be slightly more fruitful than his time at Rangers, with 12 first team appearances in league matches.
However, separation makes the heart grow fonder, or so they say, and in January 2024, Lowry returned from Hearts to Rangers, having served his time. The lad found himself in a familiar scene, that of sporadic league appearances and an absence of goals. The 2024-2025 season has continued in a similar vein, with nary a sniff of the first team. It's a tough gig, football, but hey, at least he's not bagging groceries for minimum wage eh?
