Álex Valle, born on the 25th of April 2004 in Spain, now aged 20, assumes the significant role of a defender for Celtic Football Club. He holds the left back position, standing at a sturdy 5ft 10in (1.8m) and weighing 12st 8lb (80kg). He dons the number 11 jersey, adding to the prestigious list of players who have worn this number in the club's illustrious history.
The boy from Spain is currently valued at approximately £2m according to Transfermarkt, no small change by any standard. His contract with the Bhoys is set to expire on the 30th of June 2025, so there remains plenty of time for this young talent to shine further in the green and white hoops.
Bringing some continental flair to the Celtic Park, Álex Valle Gómez initially made his name at his boyhood club Barcelona, joining their esteemed academy in July 2018. His raw talent did not go unnoticed, and Valle took full advantage of the Catalan heavyweights' propensity for nurturing young talents. However, it wasn't until January 2023 that he would enjoy his first taste of senior football. Valle was dispatched on loan to FC Andorra in the Second Division B/1 in Spain, where he made seven first team appearances in his debut season.
Following his spell in the balmy climes of Andorra, Valle returned to his parent club Barcelona in June 2023. Yet, Valle longed for game time and was promptly sent on loan once again in August 2023, this time to Levante UD in the Segunda División. He made 29 first team appearances, staking a claim for spot in the Levante starting XI with consistent display of performances.
Valle returned to Barcelona in June 2024, but it wasn't long before he was on the move again. This time, however, he was destined for colder climes. Valle joined Celtic in Scotland's Premiership on loan in August 2024. He has since acclimatised well, making 4 starts for Celtic in major league matches till date.
Since joining Celtic, Valle has been given opportunities to showcase himself on even bigger stages, including participation in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 with two starts, and in the Champions League 2024 - 2025 where he made one start and two appearances as a substitute.
As Valle continues to establish himself as a key figure in the Celtic backline, one can only anticipate what the remainder of the young Spaniard's loan spell in Scotland will have in store.
