Celtic F.C.'s Alexandro Bernabéi is a vigorous defender, not one for shying away from the demands of the left-back position that he claims as his own. Bernabéi, Argentina-raised and carrying a fiercely competitive streak within his 5ft 6in (1.69m) frame and scaling at 10st 3lb (65kg), was welcomed into the world on the 24th of September, 2000. He dons the number 25 jersey with pride for the team.
The year 2018 marked Bernabéi's earnest initiation into the professional sphere of football. According to the veritable Transfermarkt, he began his journey with a stint at Lanus in Argentina's Primera División, making 13 appearances in his debut season of 2019-2020 and netting a goal — a firm nod to a promising career.
Season by season, fans watched his growing composure on the field, as he made 24 league appearances in the 2020-2021 season. Even though his involvement decreased noticeably in the following 2022 season, it did not invite a lull in his trajectory. Instead, a season of change awaited.
July of the same year saw Bernabéi being picked up by Scotland's Celtic F.C. for a decent fee of £3.8 million. Leaving Argentina for the Scottish land would surely have been a giant leap, but never one to delve shallow, Bernabéi plunged into his new setting with a vengeance. During his 2022-2023 season at Parkhead, he made 15 appearances and managed to serve up a tasty goal for the spectators. Albeit, his appearances tailed off in the succeeding 2023-2024 season.
While donning the green and white, the defender momentarily put on the colours of Brazil's Internacional in the Série A in March 2024. The completion of this loan spell saw him thrive, making 23 appearances and striking three goals into the back of the net. The termination of this delightfully successful loan in January 2025 saw Bernabéi return to Celtic, yet no appearances for the Hoops have been recorded in the current 2024-2025 season to date.
His somewhat sporadic appearances for Celtic do not negate the unmistakable talent he brings to the proverbial field. As many a past season has shown, it's only a matter of biding time before Bernabéi embarks confidently on yet another page of play in his footballing story.
