Born on the 7th of September 1965, Andreas Thom, a German native, made a name for himself as a Centre Forward. A compact figure on the pitch, Thom stands at 5ft 8in and with a weight tipping the scales at 11st 9lb.
Thom, primarily a frontman, found his stride in Hertha BSC, a prominent team out of Germany. His tenure at Hertha BSC spanned across four seasons, with him making gradually fewer appearances towards the end of his run. In the 2001 - 2002 season, he failed to make any first team appearances, a sharp contrast from previous seasons. Records show him partaking in one and ten first team appearances in the 2000 - 2001 and 1999 - 2000 seasons respectively. However, it was the 1998 - 1999 season where he showed his prowess, appearing 28 times and chipping in three goals.
Before his stint at Hertha BSC, Thom plied his trade at Celtic in Scotland. His Celtic days were more fruitful, bagging three goals from fifteen appearances during the 1997 - 1998 season. Turn back the clock to the previous season of 1996 - 1997, and you find him making 23 appearances and nabbing seven goals. Going back a season further (1995 - 1996), he had chalked up five goals from his 32 appearances, a fine debut season indeed.
