Benjamin Sesko, born on 31 May 2003 in Slovenia, is a 21-year-old footballer who primarily operates in the frontline as a striker for RB Leipzig. Standing tall at 6ft 4in (1.95m) and weighing 13st 5lb (85kg), Sesko dons the number 30 jersey for his club. Besides his club duties, this Slovenian forward has also represented his national team on the international stage.
Sesko's current market value stands approximately at £42.5m, as reported by Transfermarkt (source). He has roughly 4 years 8 months left on his contract with RB Leipzig, which is due to expire on 30 June 2029.
Before his spell in Leipzig, Sesko started his professional career as a trainee at Domžale in Slovenia's PrvaLiga back in July 2017. In 2019, he moved to Red Bull Salzburg in Austria's Bundesliga, transferring for a fee of £2.5m. During his term in Salzburg, Sesko made 55 first team appearances over the span of three seasons and netted 26 goals in total.
Whilst at Red Bull Salzburg, he was loaned to FC Liefering, another Austrian side, for two seasons. He made considerably good use of his time there, making 44 first team appearances and scoring 21 goals in total.
Upon completion of his loan to FC Liefering, he returned to Red Bull Salzburg. However, this was a short stint as in July 2023, he was transferred to RB Leipzig in Germany's Bundesliga for a substantial fee of £20m. Transitioning to German football seemed like a smooth sail for Sesko as, in his debut season, he made 31 first-team appearances and bagged 14 goals. Currently, in the season 2024-2025, he's already played in nine matches and scored three goals.
As well as his contributions on a club level, Sesko's performances on the international stage have also been noteworthy. He's represented RB Leipzig in the Champions League for the year 2023-2024, scoring twice in eight appearances. In addition, he had an active role in Slovenia's Euro 2024 campaign and qualifiers, scoring five times in nine matches. In the Nations League 2024-2025, he notched four goals in just four starts, and he has already marked his presence in the ongoing Champions League 2024-2025 with three goals in four games for RB Leipzig.
