Well, aren't we in for a treat today? Gather round and let me regale you with the tale of Connor Goldson, a central back who graces the pitch for Aris Limassol. Born on the 18th of December, 1992, this lad from England happens to be 1.91m (a handy 6'3" for those of you inclined towards a bit of ol' fashioned imperial) and weighs around 85kg. Yes, that's right, we're talking about a lad with the heft of 13 stone 5lb.
Back in July 2010, our hero went through some sort of rite of passage and joined Shrewsbury Town in League One. Betwixt 2010 and 2016, he played a grand total of 106 first team league matches for Shrewsbury, scoring 8 goals. Good on him. He did have a short loan spell with Cheltenham Town in League Two between 2013 and 2014, where he managed to make an impressive grand total of... wait for it... four appearances.
Ah, but then came a dazzle of hope. In August 2015, Goldson transferred to Brighton & Hove Albion, in what some might call "the big leagues", for a fee close to £1m. There, he had a total of 32 appearances in league matches, glorifying the fans with his two goals. But remember, it's not all about scoring, it's how you play the game.
In July 2018, Goldson found himself heading north, changing shirts and swapping the English Premier League for Rangers in the Scottish Premiership, to the tune of £3m. Now, that's a payday. In his time there, which lasted till 2024, he made an impressive 192 first team appearances in the league, and scored a total of 15 goals.
Finally, he decided to try the Mediterranean climate (who could grudge him for doing so) and transferred to Aris Limassol in the First Division in Cyprus in July 2024. The fee, for anyone curious, was kept hush-hush. As for his Limassol performance, he's played a total of 4 first team league matches thus far in the 2024-2025 season. It seems Mr. Goldson and his exploits refuse to falter no matter what pitch they grace.
