Daniel Amartey is a stalwart Ghanaian defender born on the 21st of December 1994, thus making him 29 years of age. He was primarily tasked with maintaining the fortitude of the central defence, standing at an imposing height of 1.86m (6ft 1in) and bolstered by a weight of 79kg (12st 6lb). In addition to his club commitments, Amartey has been honoured by his country and represented the Ghanaian national team.
Amartey embarked on his professional career in January 2013, when he made the move to join Djurgardens IF that competes in Sweden's Allsvenskan. This maiden season saw him feature in 23 league matches, a figure that would decrease to 11 appearances in his second season.
His career compass then pointed towards Denmark, when in July 2014; Amartey transferred from Djurgardens IF to FC Copenhagen for around £1.5m. He made an immediate impact in his first season (2014 - 2015) with FC Copenhagen, notching up 29 appearances and contributing three goals. In the subsequent season, Amartey stepped onto the pitch for 15 league matches.
January 2016 marked an exciting career advancement for Amartey, where he transferred to Premier League team, Leicester City, for a sum of around £5m. His debut season was of modest participation, featuring in only five league matches. However, the following seasons (2016 - 2017 and 2017 - 2018) saw Amartey more involved, with 24 and 8 appearances respectively. The 2018 - 2019 season saw Amartey feature in nine matches, a number which increased to 12 in season 2020 - 2021, with a goal to his name; and a commendable 28 appearances in the following season. In his final year with Leicester City (2022 - 2023), he graced the pitch in 20 league matches.
Post-Leicester, Amartey ventured into Turkish football with Besiktas in the Süper Lig in July 2023. He maintained a respectable presence in his first season, with 18 league appearances. However, as quickly as he had arrived in Turkey, in September 2024, he was on the move. Amartey transferred from Besiktas to an undisclosed club in a yet-unspecified league.
