Born in Italy on the 11th of June 1992, Davide Zappacosta is a seasoned defender valued at around €6.00m (£5.1m approximately) Transfermarkt tells us. At 5ft 11in (1.82m) and 11st (70kg), he's not the most imposing of figures, but his nimbleness has served him well in the right back position for Atalanta. He dons the number 77 jersey and has 9 months remaining on his contract that is set to expire on 30 June 2025.
Zappacosta moved from Atalanta in Serie A to Avellino in Serie C in July 2012. His debut season in Avellino was promising as he took to the field 32 times and netted twice in league matches. Two years later, he was on the move again, returning to Atalanta, and in the 2014 - 2015 season, he clocked up 29 appearances and banged in three goals for the Serie A side.
In July 2015, he moved north to play for Torino in a deal believed to be around £3.9m. He furthered his reputation here with a steady two seasons before securing a big money move to Premier League giants Chelsea for a hefty £26m in August 2017.
Zappacosta's time in England was somewhat hit and miss. Whilst he wore the Chelsea jersey 22 times and scored once in his debut 2017 - 2018 season, his subsequent year in blue was less auspicious, making only four appearances. This led to a series of loans - first to Roma in the Serie A in 2019 where he played nine times, then to Genoa, again in Serie A, where he regained some of his old form scoring four times in 25 matches.
In August 2021, he returned home to Atalanta with a deal that set the club back around £8.1m. Since being back in Italy, Zappacosta has once again found his groove boasting a respectable 21, 31 and seven first team appearances in consecutive seasons with 11 goals to boot. Additionally, he has represented Atalanta in the Europa League with 11 appearances, the UEFA Super Cup with a start, and the coveted Champions League where he's taken the pitch three times.
All in all, Zappacosta has proved a stalwart of the Serie A, and despite not having had the luck of the green in England, he's a player with much to look forward to in the twilight years of his career.
