Ah, Dujon Sterling, a lad who came into this world on the cusp of the 21st century, precisely 24 October 1999, if you wish to get specific. Born and bred in England, the chap is no mug when it comes to the beautiful game, spending most of his time gallivanting about as a defender on the right for Rangers. Standing at 6ft and 1in (or 1.86m if you favour that sort of thing), and tipping the scales at 12st 10lb (that's 81kg to you metric folk), he dons the number 21 jersey with a kind of sardonic pride that's delightfully infused with a sense of inevitability.
It all started for Sterling back in July 2015, when, in a majestic twist of fate, he found himself signing a trainee contract with the Premier League force that is Chelsea. As with any hot prospect in football, he got himself shipped out on loan in July 2018, this time to Coventry City in the Championship, where I'm sure he had a jolly old time.
Not content with tasting just one tier lower than the Premiership, Sterling decided to dip his toes in the water of League One, heading to Wigan Athletic on loan in August 2019. His debut season saw him grace the pitch eight times, practically a hat trick of appearances for a loanee these days.
After having his fill at Chelsea, Sterling decided it was time to become a Seasider and signed a loan deal with Blackpool in the League One in August 2021. He showed a bit more consistency this time around, making a whopping 24 first team appearances in league matches—one must imagine he found the air quite bracing in the North West.
Continuing his Grand Tour of England, in September 2022, he decamped to Stoke City in yet another loan move. He clocked up a solid 26 appearances for the Potters—a name that implies throwing balls more than kicking them if you ask me.
Then, in July 2023, he fancied a change of scene and hopped north of the border to join Rangers in Scotland, where he's been making himself known with 24 first team appearances in league matches in his first season and six so far in his current season.
It's safe to say he's not shy of trying his hand in various competitions either, having turned out in the 2024-2025 League Cup and 2023-24 Scottish Cup for Rangers and scoring one goal in the 2023-24 Europa League. Plus, he's made appearances in the qualifiers and group stages of the Champions League and Europa League in 2024 and 2025 respectively.
One has to wonder, though: will Sterling ever settle down, or is he simply a rolling stone gathering no moss? Only time will tell.
