Ebiye Moses, born on the 28th of April, 1997 in Nigeria, is a forward who primarily plays as a striker for Motherwell in the Scottish Premiership. Emerging as a player of stature, Moses stands 6ft tall (about 1.85m for those of you who have ventured beyond the imperial) and tips the scales at around 12st 8lb (or around 80kg for the Europeans). Adorning the number 21 jersey, he adds an extra flair to the Motherwell frontline.
Moses embarked on his professional career in August 2017, when he left the comforts of Nigeria for Norway to join Eliteserien side Lillestrom. Proving his mettle wasn't an overnight task, as his first season only saw him making eight first team appearances in league matches. This count rose to a humble seven in his second season in 2018, and reached twelve in 2019, where he greeted the back of the net for the first time in the league.
Turning heads with his performance, in September 2019, Moses found himself in a new set of colours as he transferred to Hamarkameratene, another team in the Eliteserien. This relocation was soon followed by another in March 2021, although details of this deal remain as clear as a Scot’s tan, given it was undisclosed when he moved to Tromso, also an Eliteserien team. His tenure at Tromso saw him make 23 first team appearances and score eight goals in the 2021 season and follow that with 16 appearances and two goals in 2022.
In August of the same year, Moses made the move to Aalesunds, floating down a league to the OBOS-ligaen for, again, an undisclosed fee. The numbers he posted, however, suggest a player taking steps towards his peak, recording five goals in 12 appearances in the 2022 season, and another three in his 18 appearances the following season.
In a move that must surely have tested his ability to adapt to new accents, March of 2024 saw Moses make the leap from Norway's Aalesunds to Scotland's Motherwell. His maiden season in the Scottish Premiership in 2023-2024 featured six appearances from the Nigerian, in which he managed to rustle the onion bag twice. Currently, halfway through the 2024-2025 season, Moses has matched that tally in his 11 appearances, while also appearing four times as a substitute in the League Cup and chalking up two goals along the way.
The Bhoys will be hoping his scoring form continues.
