Midfielder Eljif Elmas, standing at 5ft 11in (1.82m) and weighing 11st 9lb (74kg), was born in North Macedonia on the 24th of September, 1999. Now aged 25, he plies his trade for RB Leipzig, primarily occupying the central attacking midfield role and bearing the number 6 jersey. There's much to be said for his representational honours, too, having appeared for his national side, North Macedonia.
Not to be dismissed lightly, Elmas' estimated market value hovers around £13m, a testament to his talents and potential, as pointed out by Transfermarkt. Elmas currently has roughly 3 years and 8 months remaining on his contract with RB Leipzig which is set to expire on 30th June 2028.
Elmas first emerged on the professional football scene when he transferred from SC Heerenveen of the Eredivisie in the Netherlands, to Rabotnički, a Prva Liga team in Macedonia, in October 2015. In July 2017, Elmas made his way to Turkish omus Fenerbahce in the Süper Lig, where he saw action in 29 first team league matches and managed to score four goals for the 2018 - 2019 season for a modest £170k transfer fee.
July 2019 saw Elmas in a more glamorous locale, donning the sky blue of Napoli in Italy's Serie A. For the not insignificant fee of £14m, he proved himself by scoring two goals and making 33 appearances in his second season. In his third and fourth seasons, he further refined his performance by scoring three and six goals respectively, and kept a steady stream of consistent appearances.
Last January 2024, Elmas took his abilities to the German Bundesliga, signing with RB Leipzig for a cool £20m. In his first season, he chalked up 14 appearances and he has made two appearances so far in the 2024 season.
Given his ongoing success, it's no surprise that Elmas' Champions League participation has been noteworthy, with several appearances as a substitute for RB Leipzig in the 2023 and 2024 seasons.
