Elvis Bwomono, born in Uganda on 29 November 1998, is a formidable defender with commendable prowess in the right back position. Currently plying his trade for St Mirren, the 26 year-old stands 6 feet tall (1.83m) and maintains a fit physique with 11st 4lb (72kg) in weight. Donning the number 42 jersey, his commanding presence on the pitch is hard to miss.
Bwomono began his professional journey in the heart of the National League in England, joining Southend United as a trainee in July 2016. His potential was soon recognised, and he made his first team debut in 2017-2018, appearing in 4 league matches, a solid start for a young up-and-coming player.
In June 2021, Bwomono left Southend United, finding himself relocating in search of fresh challenges. His journey led him to the cold north, to ÍBV in the 1. deild karla in Iceland, in May 2022. His tenure at ÍBV was highlighted by 19 first team appearances in 2022 and 25 more in the following season, which speaks volume of his consistency and value to the team.
In January 2024, Bwomono embarked on a new adventure, moving from ÍBV to the prestigious Premiership in Scotland, signing for St Mirren. His debut season, 2023-2024, saw him seal a place in the first team with 13 appearances in league matches. His performances evidently impress, as the current season has witnessed Bwomono grace the field in 19 matches so far. Further, his contributions were instrumental in the Conference League Qualifiers 2024-2025 for St Mirren, where he earned one start and made a substitute appearance.
Although Bwomono may not have graced the sacred greens of Celtic Park for a significant time, his journey and accomplishments make for a remarkable story of a player who has carved a place for himself in the intricate world of football.
