Aye, so this is the tale of Jack Butland, born 10 March 1993 somewhere in England. He's a towering figure of a goalkeeper for Rangers, standing at an overwhelming 6ft 5in (1.96m) and tipping the scales at around 14st 11lb (94kg). Not exactly the kind of bloke you'd want to get in a kerfuffle with on the pitch or elsewhere, I'd wager. Wearing the number 1 jersey, and it's no wonder considering his size, Butland has made an appearance for your fair isle's national team too, be he ever so English.
According to those bampots over at Transfermarkt, the lad's current market value bobs around the £2.5m mark, give or take. He's got himself tied to the Rangers for another 2 years and 8 months, his contract seeming to finally reach its end on the 31st of May in the oh so distant 2027.
Butland graced Birmingham City in the League One in England with his presence back in July 2010, and spent the 2012-2013 season there making a whooping total of 46 appearances, bless his cotton socks. Then he went gallivanting off to Cheltenham Town, making 24 appearances for the old gaffer in the 2011-2012 season, only to duck back to Birmingham afterward....
Fast forward to July 2013 he was sold to Stoke City in the Championship for the princely sum of around £3.5m, where he made a less than thrilling 156 appearances over 7 seasons. While Stoke seemingly couldn't get rid of him, he was lent here and there; having brief stints at Barnsley (13 appearances 2013-2014), Leeds United (16 appearances 2013-2014), and Derby County (6 appearances 2014-2015).
Then in October 2020, someone saw sense and he was flogged to Crystal Palace for a cool £1m, where he graced the pitch a dismal 10 times over two seasons. In January 2023, he was loaned to Manchester United, critics and fans alike are yet to find out how this chapter unfolded..
Finally and most recently, Butland was lobbed off to Rangers where he's currently trying his best to hold his own, amassing a total of 45 appearances since 2023. We've seen him in various competitions for the Rangers, including our local League Cup and Scottish Cup, with a few jaunts abroad for the Champions League Qualifiers and Europa League. Aye, he's a busy man, our Jack Butland.
