Jair Tavares, born on 13th February 2001 (now aged 23) hails from Portugal. A versatile footballer known for his creativity, he typically plays at the forward position, specialising as a left winger. He stands 5ft 10in tall (1.78m) and tips the scales at 11 stone 4 pounds.
Tavares cut his teeth in professional football in 2013 when he joined Benfica B in the Liga Portugal 2 as a trainee. Curiously, he sports the rather unusual squad number of 90, an identifier he has capably carried onto Scottish soil.
In July 2022, a new football chapter began for Tavares. He transferred to Hibernian, a side in the Scottish Premiership, for an undisclosed fee. His inaugural season (2022 - 2023) saw him establish a presence, though it wasn't until his second season (2023 - 2024) that he began to shine brighter, clocking up 26 first team appearances, and finding the back of the net twice.
The 2024 summer window heralded another move for Tavares. He headed west, transferring from Hibernian to another Scottish Premiership side, Motherwell, on a season-long loan. His stint with the Steelmen is currently underway; within the 2024 - 2025 season, he has thus far made two first team appearances. The coming months will tell how well he holds up in The Well's league tussles.
