James Scott, a robust 6ft 2in (1.88m) striker weighing 13st 9lb (87kg), was born on 30th August 2000 in Scotland. As of now, aged 24, he puts on the number 14 jersey for St Mirren, a noted club in Scotland's Premiership.
In October 2013, he embarked on his football journey as a trainee with Motherwell, a club in the same Premiership. His professional career easing into stride from the 2017-2018 season onwards, Scott made some significant contributions to the Motherwell first team, rising from two appearances in his debut season to 22 by 2019-2020, scoring three goals in the process.
Scott's performances didn't go unnoticed, and with the turn of the decade in January 2020, Hull City, a Championship side in England, acquired him for a fee close to £1.5m. He had a chance to show his mettle in England but his run was somewhat muted, scoring once across eight appearances over two non-consecutive seasons at Hull City.
A change of environment seemed to be in order, and in August 2021, Hibernian of the Premiership in Scotland took Scott on loan. The striker seemed to regain some form as he netted four times from 16 appearances in 2021-2022 season. However, at the end of his loan spell in June 2022, Scott returned to Hull City to resume duties.
His stint in England continued, but it was not until January 2023 that he made a short move south to Exeter City, now in League One. His spell was brief, making only four appearances.
Finally, in January 2024, Scott departed Exeter to join St Mirren, initially on loan. Proving to be a valuable addition, St Mirren sealed a permanent move for him in July 2024. Since then, he has maintained a steady presence in the first team, with 20 appearances and a goal to his name across two seasons.
Outside the Premiership, Scott has seen minor roles in the 2024-2025 League Cup and 2024-2025 Conference League Qualifiers for St Mirren, featuring as a substitute on five occasions across both competitions.
