John Kennedy, Scottish born and bred, arrived in the World on the 18th of August, 1983. Standing tall at an imposing 6ft 2in and carrying a solid 13st 7lb on his frame, he cut quite a figure on the pitch. Equally at home at the heart of the defence, Kennedy was a reliable rock over the course of his footballing career.
That career saw its final glow in the Norwich City dressing room during the 2008-09 season. During this stint in England, Kennedy took to the field 16 times and twice found the net.
Prior to his time with The Canaries, Kennedy was a staple at Celtic. His 2007-08 season saw him step onto the turf seven times. The previous season saw a more restrained count of three outings.
The 2005-06 and 2004-05 campaigns held little pitch time for Kennedy. These seasons were barren, bereft of first team appearances. Rewind further, to 2003-04, and we see Kennedy at a relative high-point, with 12 appearances and a solitary goal.
Beat a further retreat to 2002-03 and we are again met with a cold absence of game time. A scarce drop of an appearance marked the 2001-02 season. The millennium saw Kennedy's maiden first team foray, stepping out four times for the Celts in 1999-2000.
All told, John Kennedy's career serves as a case study in commitment, adaptability and, at times, sheer stubborn bouncebackability.
