Emerging as a bright prospect from the Republic of Ireland, Johnny Kenny was born on 6 June 2003 which makes him a spry 22-year-old. Endeavouring in the role of a forward, he is steadfast in his place as a striker for Bolton Wanderers, adorning the number 9 jersey. His body is moulded for the football field, standing 5ft 9in (1.77m) tall and tipping the scales at 11st 2lb (71kg). He not only pledges his club allegiance in football, but also represents his motherland at national level for the Republic of Ireland.
His reputation and performance vest him with a market value of approximately €600k, translating to about £516k. This figure is validated by Transfermarkt, a well-established source of football insights.
In the fresh beginnings of 2020, Kenny pledged his talents to Premier Division side, Sligo Rovers, back in the Republic of Ireland. His debut season in 2021 marked an industrious period for him, having stepped onto the field for 32 league matches and burying the ball in the net on 11 occasions.
In January 2022, Kenny greeted the chilling winds of Scotland, signing for Celtic for a reported sum of £140k. His tenure at Celtic was nothing short of eventful. He started his journey in the 2024-2025 season marking his presence on the pitch for eight league games and punching in a single goal. The season that followed brought more opportunities and Kenny relished them – making 15 league appearances and netting four goals.
Celtic decided to loan Kenny to Queen's Park in the Scottish championship in August 2022 where he further developed his skills with 12 league appearances. A return to the Republic of Ireland awaited Kenny as he was then loaned to Shamrock Rovers in January 2023. During his stay, Kenny was quite a sight to see on the pitch with 30 and 29 league appearances across two seasons respectively, and a rewarding tally of 18 goals.
January 2025 saw Kenny return to Celtic from Shamrock Rovers once his loan spell had concluded. Again, he proved to be useful for the Scottish Premiership side, making 15 appearances and finding the back of the net four times in the 2025-2026 season.
As the year turned to 2026, Kenny moved from Celtic to League One side Bolton Wanderers in England on loan. In his current season with Bolton, he has featured in five first-team appearances and marked his arrival with a goal.
Kenny was also given the privilege of stepping onto the grand stage of World Cup Qualifiers Europe 2024 - 2026 appearing as a substitute for the Republic of Ireland.
