Josh Rae is a Scottish goalkeeper currently playing for St Johnstone. Born on 17th October 2000 in Scotland, Rae is 24 years old. His impressive stature at 6ft 3in (1.91m) and weight of 12st 12lb (82kg) serves him well in his position. Wearing the number 12 jersey, his current market value is estimated at approximately £170k and his contract with St Johnstone is due to run until 31st May 2026. (source: Transfermarkt)
He had a brief stint at Queen's Park in the Scottish Championship in November 2019, before transferring to Edinburgh City and then Cowdenbeath in rapid succession. One could argue that Rae's first pitch of stability was found in Peterhead, where he spent some time, barring a loan spell at Queen of the South, before sealing a transfer there in July 2021. From Queen of the South, he moved up to the Championship with a move to Airdrieonians in July 2022.
His first two seasons at Airdrieonians saw him making steady appearances, eight in his debut season and a noticeable increase to 26 in his second season. Rae didn't don the Celtic jersey during his earlier career, a fact that makes him a rather reserved topic for our readership, but it is not to say the lad lacks talent. Indeed, his merit saw him earning a transfer to St Johnstone, in the Premiership, in July 2024. In the ongoing 2024-25 season, he has made three first team appearances for St Johnstone so far, and also featured in the League Cup, starting in five matches.
All in all, though Josh Rae's career seems to be in its early days, he's shown promising development that's landed him in the Scottish Premiership. While he might not be a 'Bhoys' alum, his path serves as a reminder of the breadth and depth of talent in Scottish football.
