Josip Juranović, a wee lad hailing from Croatia, was born on the 16th of August 1995. He's not exactly the towering sort, standing only 5ft 8in tall and tipping the scales at a modest 10st 9lb. Juranović might be small, but he's a sturdy defender, primarily operating as a Right Back. He's currently playing for the Union Berlin and wearing the number 18 on the back of his jersey. He’s also spent a bit of time playing for the Croatia national team.
In the 2023 - 2024 season, Juranović got stuck into a good bit of football, featuring in 21 Bundesliga matches for Union Berlin. He also managed to represent in five Champions League matches, starting in all. On the international front, he's participated in the Euro 2024, making a solitary start and substitution appearance. Not to mention, he contributed to the Euro Qualifiers with three starts and two appearances off the bench.
Looking back at his earlier career, the lad made his debut in the 2014 - 2015 season with Hajduk Split in Croatia, featuring in six first team games. He followed up with a more impactful 2015 - 2016 season where he made 31 appearances and scored once. In the 2016 - 2017 season, he made 19 appearances and didn’t manage to get his name on the scoresheet.
In 2020, Juranović moved from Croatia to Poland, signing on with Legia Warsaw for a fee of around £360k. In his debut season in 2020 - 2021, he made a decent impact, playing in 26 matches and scoring once. However, in the following 2021 - 2022 season at Legia Warsaw, he had a quiet time, being selected in the first team only twice.
In August 2021, Juranović sealed a significant transfer to Celtic in Scotland, costing the Bhoys a considerable £2.5m. He had a productive stint in Glasgow, managing 26 appearances and netting three times in his first season 2021 - 2022 at Celtic Park. During the following 2022 - 2023 season, he got his boots dirty in ten matches and scored once.
In another considerable switch, Juranović moved from Celtic to Union Berlin in Germany in January 2023. It was a lucrative deal, costing about £7.5m. He continued his decent form, featuring in 12 matches and scoring twice in his first season 2022 - 2023. In the following 2023 - 2024 season, Juranović played 21 first team games but didn't manage to add to his goal tally. As it currently stands, he’ll be turning out for Union Berlin in the upcoming 2024 - 2025 season.
