Koen Casteels, a Belgian goalkeeper, was born on 25th June 1992 which is places him being 32 years old. Currently, he plays his trade for Al-Qadsiah. Displaying quite the stature in net, Casteels stands tall at 6ft 5in (1.97m) and weighs in at 13st 7lb (86kg).
His professional career was initiated in July 2009 when he joined Pro League team Genk in his home country of Belgium. Two years on, in July 2011, he transferred to 1899 Hoffenheim in Germany's Bundesliga for a fee of approximately Β£700k. Here he made his first team debut during the 2012-2013 season, featuring in 16 league matches. The following season saw his role further solidify, making 23 first team appearances in league matches for Hoffenheim.
Moving forward to January 2015, Casteels made another Bundesliga transition, this time to Wolfsburg, for a fee in the ballpark of Β£1.3m. Between the 2015-2024 seasons, he was a consistent presence in the first team, making an impressive number of appearances each season.
However, for a brief period in 2015, it seems that Casteels was sent out on loan to another Bundesliga side, Werder Bremen. He made six first team appearances in league matches for Bremen during the 2014 - 2015 season before returning to Wolfsburg at the end of this loan spell.
In July 2024, an interesting turn took Casteels' career as he moved to Al-Qadsiah in the Saudi Arabian Professional League. In the current 2024 - 2025 season at Al-Qadsiah, Casteels has already made six first team appearances in league matches.
Beyond his club commitments, Koen Casteels has also represented the Belgian national team. Notably, he participated in the Euro 2024 with four starts as well as the Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024 with three starts and the Nations League 2024 - 2025 also with four starts.
