Kyle Vassell, originally from England, was born on the seventh of February in 1993. Standing at a reasonably statuesque 6ft and tipping the scales at around 12st 3lb, Vassell fulfils his role as a forward, usually acting as striker, for Kilmarnock. He carries the weight of the number nine jersey on his shoulders - a key role given to those deemed important on the pitch.
Vassell's professional career took off in the 2013-2014 season, when he found himself on the first team roster of Peterborough United six times. A season later, his star had risen somewhat with 17 appearances and five goals. Yet, this tenure was not to last. He moved on to Oxford United in the same season, striding onto the pitch six times and netting just once.
The following season, 2015-2016, Vassell made five appearances for Peterborough before a brief stint at Dagenham & Redbridge saw him start in 8 matches. This was followed by a whirlwind move to Shrewsbury Town where he took part in 13 first team games.
In the 2016-2017 season, Vassell made significant strides, playing 34 games and scoring 11 commendable goals for Blackpool. Returning to the same outfit the next season, he had fewer starts - 18 in total - but proved efficient, securing eight goals.
The next couple of seasons saw Vassell with Rotherham United, making a combined total of 35 appearances with no notable scoring record. The tide seemed to turn in the 2022-2023 season when he signed with Kilmarnock, where he has started in 14 matches and found the back of the net four times. The following season, his record improved drastically with 35 appearances and a personal best of nine goals.
In the current season, Vassell has yet to step foot on the pitch. Yet, his history with Kilmarnock speaks of a player who has adapted well and knows where the goal lies. Worth keeping an eye on, assuming his manager sees fit to give him a chance.
