Oh, the wonders of young Leon King - a lad who first graced the world with his presence on the 14th of January, 2004, somewhere deep in the heart of Scottish lands, entering his adulthood at a ripe age of 20. Nearing his adulthood, the young gentleman, a pinnacle of Scottish vigour, had established himself as a devoted defender in Rangers F.C, primarily bossing about the central defensive region of the pitch. The lad stands proud at 6ft 2in (1.88m) tall, not exactly a green giant, but far from being the shortest bloke on the pitch. He tips the scales at about 11st 9lb (74kg), which must be damn handy when it comes to shoving opposing forwards out of the way, wouldn't you agree?
The King, Leon King, not to be confused with any monarchy, has been gambling with fate at Rangers donning the number 38 jersey. Like an unpredictable wheel of fortune, his luck in making first team appearances has been particularly... varied. His first big break, the debut season in 2020-2021, allowed him a magnificent one-time appearance. Perhaps elated by a roaring crowd, or merely in an attempt to salvage his career, King managed a whooping three more appearances in season 2021-2022. Ostensibly, this downward trajectory didn't get to him for King eventually hit a new stride in season 2022-2023, appearing on the pitch for Rangers 15 times. Alas, the celebrations were short-lived as the following season in 2023-2024 saw him grace the pitch a mere five times. And dear reader, prepare yourself for a tragedy; as of the current season of 2024-2025, King’s boots haven’t stepped foot on the hallowed turf - not even once.
As if the trajectory of his appearance records wasn't taxing enough, King dipped his toe in the stormy waters of the Scottish Cup 2023-2024, with a singular appearance as a substitute. Undoubtedly, a captivating thrill for him and a nugget of amusement for us observing his career's erratic rollercoaster ride.
