Born on 10 April 1994, Leopold Zingerle is a German footballer who currently stands between the sticks for RB Leipzig. A towering figure in the goal, Zingerle measures up at 6ft 2in (1.88m) and tips the scales at 12st 3lb (78kg). Keen-eyed fans of the Bundesliga side would recognise him in the number 25 shirt.
Zingerle's footballing journey began in earnest in July of 2012 when he joined Bayern Munich. While details of his subsequent transfer fees remain shrouded in mystery, we know that he moved from Bayern to Greuther Fürth in August of 2015. His stay at Fürth would be brief, and by July of the following year, he transferred to Magdeburg where he would go on to make 21 first team appearances in the 2016-2017 season of the 2. Bundesliga.
The nomadic keeper then made the switch to Paderborn 07 in July 2017, his contributions to the squad being seen in his consistent appearances in the club's 2. Bundesliga matches over the next five years. He turned out for Paderborn in 35 matches in his debut season; a figure that would remain largely consistent save for the 2019-2020 season where he made 28 appearances, and his final season at the club where he marked his presence on the field a mere four times.
In July of 2023, Zingerle left Paderborn to join his current club RB Leipzig. As of the 2024-2025 season with RB Leipzig, Zingerle has yet to mark his first team debut. With his contract set to expire on 30 June 2025, time will indeed tell if this economic move - Zingerle currently boasts a market value of approximately £340k according to Transfermarkt- pays dividends for Leipzig.
