Born on the 30th of September 1996, Lewis Morgan is a Scottish forward who has made a name for himself playing as a left winger for the New York Red Bulls. Standing at 5ft 10in (1.78m) and weighing 11st 11lb (75kg), Morgan is a strong physical presence known for donning the number 9 jersey. Beyond his club responsibilities, he has also extended his football prowess to the international stage, having represented the Scotland national team.
Morgan began his professional football journey in September 2013 with St Mirren, part of Premiership Scotland. Over four seasons running from 2014 to 2018, he notched up a total of 81 first team league appearances and scored 16 goals.
January 2018 saw Morgan making his move to Celtic for an approximate fee of £300k where he played in the Premiership Scotland until 2019. His record with Celtic is though was limited, managing just 14 first team appearances across two seasons.
His time at Celtic however was punctuated by loan stints back at St Mirren and then with Sunderland in the Championship in England. His performance proved consistent with his previous records at St Mirren.
It was in 2020 when Morgan made the leap across the Atlantic, transferring to Inter Miami in the MLS for a fee of around £360k. After an impressive run of 57 first team appearances and seven goals over two seasons, he moved to another MLS team, New York Red Bulls, in December 2021 for a fee of around £1m. As of the 2024 season, Morgan has consistently performed for the Red Bulls with a tally of 65 first team appearances and a commendable 27 goals.
On the international stage, Morgan made a brief appearance for Scotland during the Euro 2024 and also played in the Nations League 2024 - 2025. In the MLS 2024 season for New York Red Bulls, he started 25 matches and came off the bench for three, in which he scored an impressive 13 goals.
Despite his movement between various clubs and countries, Morgan's commitment to football remains stout, and he continues to demonstrate his skills on and off the field in the New York Red Bulls squad.
