Liel Abada, a forward primarily playing as a right winger for Charlotte FC in America, was born on the 3rd of October 2001 in Israel. Standing at 5ft 6in (1.68m), and with a weight of 10st 9lb (68kg), he cuts quite the figure on the pitch, often seen donned in the number 11 jersey. In addition to his club duties, Abada has also pulled on the national team jersey of Israel.
Abada's journey into professional football started in July 2014, when he joined Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Premier League of Israel as a trainee. He steadily grew into his role, making his first team debut in the 2018-2019 season and playing in two league matches. The following season he upped his game, appearing 29 times and scoring eight goals. By the 2020-2021 season, he became a crucial part of the team, playing in 36 matches and netting the ball 12 times.
Abada's strong performances caught the attention of Celtic in the Scottish Premiership, who acquired him in July 2021 for a rounded fee of about £3.5m. During his time at Celtic, he became a solid first team player. In the 2021-2022 season, he appeared 36 times and scored ten goals, followed by 34 appearances with the same goal tally in the next season. The 2023-2024 season saw fewer appearances, with nine matches garnered in which he scored once.
In March 2024, Abada dipped his toes into the waters of American football, moving to Charlotte FC in the MLS for an approximate fee of £6m. Here he kept up his scoring record, appearing in 24 matches during the 2024 season and scoring seven goals. For the 2025 season, he continues to be rostered for Charlotte FC.
Abada’s performance has also been noticed on the international front. He participated in the MLS Cup Play Offs 2024 for Charlotte FC, the Olympics 2024 for Israel, and the MLS 2025 for Charlotte FC, so far scoring one goal in six starts and an appearance as a substitute.
