Liel Abada, born on the 3rd of October 2001, is a forward who primarily graces the field as a right winger for Charlotte FC. An Israeli native, Abada stands at 5ft 6in tall (1.68m) and tips the scales at roughly 10st 9lb (68kg). Adorned in the number 11 jersey, he also carries the honour of representing his homeland, Israel, on the national football stage.
Abada’s professional journey began in July 2014 when he joined Maccabi Petah Tikva in the Premier League in Israel as a trainee. The then trainee player made his debut in the 2018-2019 season, where he made two appearances for the team in league matches. The next season, he elevated his performance by participating in 29 league matches and netting eight goals. His performance further improved during the 2020-2021 season, striking 12 goals in 36 appearances.
His consistent performances caught the eye of Scottish giants Celtic, who acquired his services in July 2021 for an estimated fee of around £3.6 million. At Celtic, he continued his tendency to improve each season, recording ten goals in 36 appearances in the 2021-2022 season. Maintaining the momentum, he replicated his scoring feat with ten goals in 34 appearances in the successive season. However, in the 2023-2024 season, he endured a slump in form, netting only once in nine appearances.
In March 2024, Celtic bid farewell to Abada, as he transferred to Charlotte FC in the MLS in the USA for an estimated fee of £6 million. In his debut season in Charlotte, he managed six goals in 23 matches.
Abada’s international flair was showcased in the 2024 Olympics, where he started three matches for Israel. He also proved instrumental for Charlotte FC in the 2024 MLS, contributing six goals in his 20 starts, with an additional three appearances as a substitute.
