Meet Logan Ross, the football player who seems to be perpetually going around in circles. This young lad, who first saw the light of day on 12 May 2004 in the illustrious location of Scotland, is currently doing his bit as a goalkeeper for Ross County. His age, if my maths is correct, should be around 20 years. He proudly wears the number 31 jersey, probably not a number chosen because of any particular superstition or numerological beliefs, but simply because it was left over after the proper players picked theirs.
With the precision of a jeweller appraising a diamond, Transfermarkt has estimated Ross's value on the market as being around £43k. A modest enough amount, but these days, given the inflation in prices and the cost of a good cup of tea at the local café, it's nothing to sniff at.
Our boy Ross embarked on his football journey in July 2019, when he joined Ross County in the Scottish Premiership straight as a trainee. A brave leap, but then if you're going to jump into football, you might as well start in the deep end.
Then ensued a full-fledged circus of transfers, loans, returns and whatnot. Lossiemouth in the Highland League in Scotland became the temporary abode for Ross in November 2020. In June 2021, after proving his worth at Lossiemouth, he was recalled to Ross County. But by the time July 2021 rolled around, the lad was once again on the move to his old haunt of Lossiemouth.
It was almost becoming a tradition at that point, for January 2022 saw Ross return from the familiar Lossiemouth to his alma mater, Ross County. He was then promptly sent back out on loan to Lossiemouth - for the umpteenth time - in July that same year...only to find himself back at Ross County in January the following year.
Perhaps they felt they were being unfair to other clubs, because in January 2023 Ross County kindly sent him off to the Brora Rangers in the Highland League, on a loan of course. Not missing a beat, he promptly returned to Ross County like a well-programmed boomerang in June 2023. He was then dispatched back to Brora Rangers in August 2023, returned to Ross County in February 2024, and then was shipped off to Huntly FC in the Highland League in July 2024.
It would be an understatement to say that Ross has a somewhat peripatetic career. One can only hope that this football nomad will, one day, find a home that'll realise his worth and actually keep him around for more than half a season.
