Born on 7 February 2001, German defender Maik Nawrocki has made a name for himself as a notable player for Celtic Football Club. At a stature of 6ft 2in (1.9m), he commands the pitch with an imposing presence. Weighing in at 12st 3lb (78kg), his physicality is reflected in his strong play style. As the wearer of the number 17 jersey, this 23-year-old athlete contributes significantly to the team's defensive strength.
Respected football resource Transfermarkt estimates Nawrocki's market value to be roughly £2.5m. He remains a committed Celtic player, with his contract set to expire in May 2028, after a tenure of 3 years and 7 months.
Nawrocki's journey to Celtic started with his training at SV Werder Bremen II in the Regionalliga Nord in Germany back in July 2016. He later moved to the Polish I Liga side, Warta Poznań, on a loan in February 2021. Throughout the 2020-2021 season, Nawrocki impressed with his performance, making three first team appearances and even netting a goal.
Further expanding his horizons, Nawrocki moved again in July 2021 on a loan transfer to Ekstraklasa's Legia Warsaw, another Polish club. His performances there were compelling, with 19 first team appearances and a goal in the 2021-2022 season, and an even better tally of 25 appearances and four goals throughout the 2022-2023 season.
Impressed, Legia Warsaw made the move to purchase him from SV Werder Bremen II permanently in July 2022 for a fee of around £1.4m. Nawrocki continued his stints of good form by scoring four times in 25 appearances in the 2022-2023 season.
However, it was in July 2023 when Nawrocki was transferred from Legia Warsaw to Celtic, in a deal worth approximately £4.3m. In his inaugural 2023-2024 season with the Scottish club, Nawrocki made ten first team appearances. In the current 2024-2025 season, he is yet to make a first team appearance.
It is worth noting that Nawrocki's contribution to Celtic extends beyond mere league matches. He's played in the League Cup 2024 - 2025 with a substitute appearance and also in the Scottish Cup for the 2023 - 2024 season, where he started in one game and made a substitute appearance in another.
