Maksymilian Boruc, born on the 15th of November 2002 and now a fresh-faced 22, hails from Poland and has carved out a name for himself as an iron-fisted guardian of Hibernian's goal. Towering at an impressive 6ft 4in (1.94m), he's got the physique that would make most strikers think twice before attempting to take him on. With a weight of 11st 4lb (72kg) to back him up as well, he cuts an imposing figure between the sticks, one that won't easily be budged. You can usually find Boruc confidently sporting the number 25 jersey.
Boruc's transfer history stretches back to July 2021 when he chose to uproot from his comfortable home at West Bromwich Albion, who were at the time competing in the English Championships. He moved to Slask Wroclaw in Poland's top division, the Ekstraklasa. Fast forward a few years to July 2023, and Boruc packed his bags once more for a move, this time to Hibernian in Scotland's Premiership.
His first season at Hibernian, the 2023-2024 campaign, saw him make two appearances for the first team in league matches. However, his time in the limelight was momentarily disrupted come January 2024. Boruc, ever the trooper, was shipped off on loan to Arbroath, a team situated in Scotland's League One. That season saw him work his way into the starting 11 on 13 separate occasions in league matches. However, his time in Arbroath was always going to be fleeting and by June 2024, he was called back to Hibernian upon completion of his loan.
Since his return to Hibernian, the story has been a rather quiet one for Boruc. His debut season of 2023-2024 was scarcely better than his current season of 2024-2025 where he, surprisingly, has not yet made a first-team appearance in league matches. Despite the lack of beneficial minutes on the pitch, one must never discount the persistence of a footballer. With time on his side, Boruc is very much a name to watch out for in Scottish football.
