Emerging from the modest cityscapes of Poland, goalie Maksymilian Boruc is a presence on the pitch. Born on 15 November 2002, the 21-year-old currently posts guard for Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership. And it doesn't take a discerning eye to spot him on the field, with a stature measuring 1.94m (6ft 4in) and a weight of 72kg (11st 4lb). The number 25 is what you'll see emblazoned on his jersey.
Hopping borders and leagues, Boruc's journey between the goalposts started with a significant move in July 2021. The gloves were passed from West Bromwich Albion in the English Championship to Slask Wroclaw in the Polish Ekstraklasa. But as a rolling stone gathers no moss, Boruc had moved on to Scottish grounds by July 2023, landing a role with Hibernian in the Premiership.
Diving into the deep end, Boruc’s introductory year with Hibernian proved to be a challenging feat. The 2023-2024 season saw him make a mere two first team appearances in the league. The following season, it seems, has thus far echoed the same silence with no appearances to his name.
Not sitting idle, however, Boruc was lobbed over to Arbroath in the Scottish League One in January 2024 on a loan transfer. It was here, amidst the heralded Smokies, that Boruc found his rhythm. During the 2023-2024 season, he made 13 first-team appearances in league matches, a promising figure indeed.
Following the completion of his loan spell, Boruc returned to Hibernian in June 2024, bringing his experience and sharpened skills back with him. He returned to his original challenge, donning the Hibernian jersey for the Premiership in Scotland. His record since he's capped his Arbroath loan remains unimpressive, however, with no league appearances for the 2024-2025 season.
Despite the tough terrain that Boruc has faced during his brief career, the youngster in his early twenties has potential and time on his side.
