Marcel Lotka, born on the 25th of May 2001, hails from Poland and currently guards the goal for Borussia Dortmund II. Standing at a formidable 6ft 2in (1.9m) tall, and with a weighty presence of 13st 5lb (85kg), Lotka is a formidable presence in any penalty area. He is easily recognised on the pitch, donning the number 35 jersey.
As of this writing, Transfermarkt values him at roughly €1.30m, which, converted into a more familiar currency, comes to approximately £1m. However, his contract with Borussia Dortmund II is drawing to a close, with a remaining duration of only nine months, set to conclude on the 30th of June, 2025.
Lotka's journey through football began in earnest in September 2020. He made the move from Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga to Hertha BSC in the 2. Bundesliga, both based in Germany, with the exact transfer fees remaining privy to the clubs involved. Throughout his debut season of 2021-2022 with Hertha BSC, he made ten first team appearances in league matches.
In July of 2022, Lotka made another move, this time from Hertha BSC to Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga. His time at Borussia Dortmund appears to have involved some internal shuffling, with Lotka transferring from the main Borussia Dortmund team to their second team, Borussia Dortmund II, in September of 2024.
Lotka's appearances for Borussia Dortmund II have been impressive. In the 2022-2023 season, he made a substantial 30 first team appearances in league matches, followed by another 28 during the 2023-2024 season. As of the current 2024-2025 season, Lotka has six appearances to his name.
Despite these internal transfers between Dortmund's teams, Lotka's value and skill as a goalkeeper remains evident. With ample time left in his professional playing career, we can only anticipate where this talented goalkeeper's journey will take him next.
