O'Hara's professional career started rolling in July 2012 when he joined Kilmarnock, in the Scottish Premiership, as a trainee. In his first season (2012-2013), O'Hara made 17 first team appearances and scored one goal. His debut season was followed by three more at Kilmarnock, making 14, 18, and 29 match appearances in the respective seasons.
In July 2016, O'Hara moved from Kilmarnock to Dundee, another Scottish Premiership club. Once again, O'Hara had a significant impact scoring six goals in 28 appearances in his first season 2016-2017.
