Mark Wilson, born on 5th June 1984 in Scotland, is a former Celtic defender who played chiefly as a right back. With a height of 1.8 m (5ft 10in) and a weight of 76 kg (11 st 13 lb), Wilson was a presence on the pitch. His career began in earnest when he joined Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership as a trainee in June of 2000. Wilson only made a single first team appearance in his debut season (2001 - 2002). However, his potential was abundantly clear in the following seasons, as his appearances escalated, and he began scoring goals.
In January 2006, Wilson made the move from Dundee United to the esteemed Celtic for a fee of around £500k. His tenure at Celtic began on a positive note, with Wilson making 15 first-team appearances in his first season (2005 - 2006). This trend continued over the next few seasons, with his game time fluctuating. A personal highlight must have been the 2010 - 2011 season where he contributed to the team's success with two goals.
August of 2012 signalled a change for Wilson, transferring from Celtic to Bristol City in England's Championship. His spell at Bristol City was short-lived, however, with only eight first team appearances in the 2012 - 2013 season, followed by a swift return to Scotland, rejoining Dundee United in August 2013.
Wilson pulled on the Dundee United shirt for another round of appearances, culminating in his final transfer from Dundee United in January 2015. He then joined Dumbarton in the League One in Scotland in February 2015, contributing decisively to their campaign with one goal in his 11 first team appearances. And thus, the story closes as he transferred from Dumbarton in June 2015, bidding farewell to a remarkable time on the football field.
