Nathaniel Phillips, born and raised in the heartland of English football, embarked on his career path that would stretch continents and touch clubs of varying stature. A sturdy figure standing at 6 foot 2 inches (188 cm) in height and weighing in at around 12 st 6 lbs (80kg), physicality has always been central to his approach.
Phillips made his professional leap into German football with Stuttgart for the 2019-2020 season, making 19 commendable first team appearances. It was a suitable proving ground in the fiercely competitive Bundesliga for the eager player.
Following his promising spell in Germany, Phillips was recalled by Liverpool and given the chance to shine at Anfield for the 2020-2021 season. He took to the task commendably, making 17 first team appearances and securing himself a spot on the scoresheet which served as a sweet cherry atop his hard-working performances.
Not one to shy away from seeking fresh pastures, Phillips headed south for the 2021-2022 season, bolstering the defensive ranks of Bournemouth and making 17 first team appearances. His time with the Cherries was marked by steady performances and many a hard-fought duel on the pitch.
After a brief return to Liverpool in the 2022-2023 season, Phillips took the bold step of crossing borders and joining Scottish giants, Celtic F.C., for the 2023-2024 season. During his stint in the green and white hoops, he cut an imposing figure at the back, making a total of six first team appearances. It may have been a brief stint at Celtic Park, but his contribution was well-appreciated and left a lasting impression.
Midway through the same 2023-2024 season, Phillips made the switch to Cardiff City. At the Welsh club, he made 18 noteworthy appearances, and once again found the back of the net, reinforcing his ability to contribute beyond just defensive duties.
