Oliver Abildgaard, born on the 10th of June 1996 in Denmark, is a solid fixture in the world of football, playing primarily as a central defensive midfielder. The mighty Dane, who towers at a height of 6ft 3in (1.93m) and weighs in at 12st 12lb (82kg), is currently showcasing his skills for Pisa, sporting the number 28 jersey.
Abildgaardโs career took off in earnest back in July 2015, when he signed with Aalborg BK in Denmark's Superliga. A steady presence on the field over five seasons, he made a total of 65 appearances and scored three goals. While his time there was devoid of ostentatious displays, it was marked by steady growth and development.
He then ventured abroad in February 2020, securing a loan deal with Rubin Kazan in Russia's Premier League. His impact was felt immediately, with a decent tally of 11 appearances in his debut season. Such was his influence, that by August the same year, the club secured his services permanently from Aalborg BK for a fee rumoured to be around ยฃ900,000. His tenure at Rubin Kazan included a total of 59 appearances and one goal over three seasons, establishing himself as a reliable part of their squad.
Celtic FC snagged Abildgaard on loan in September 2022. During his brief stint in Scotland, he graced Celtic Park six times in league matches - a shorter but undoubtedly exciting chapter in his career.
While still under contract with Rubin Kazan, he sampled the allure of Italian football next, securing back-to-back loan spells with Hellas Verona in January 2023 and later with Como in July of the same year. His time in Italy has been productive, with 42 appearances and two goals to his name across both clubs. Currently, Abildgaard is playing with Pisa in the Serie B, marking yet another exciting chapter in his professional career.
