Peter Grant, born on 30 August 1965 in Scotland, was a midfielder known for his capability in a central defensive role. Standing at 5ft 8in (1.75m) and weighing 11st 6lb (73kg), Grant was a consistent presence in the heart of the field.
In July 1982, Grant started his football career at Celtic, making his first team debut during the 1983-1984 season. His commitment to the team saw him make numerous subsequent appearances, scoring vital goals and contributing significantly to the team's successes over the years.
Despite being a newcomer, Grant was given plenty of opportunities to show his worth at Celtic in his first season, making three appearances in league matches. The 1984-1985 season saw Grant truly find his rhythm, with the midfielder making 20 appearances and scoring his first four goals. His contributions in the following seasons reaffirmed his integral role at Celtic; appearances and goals came steadily over the next few years. In fact, Grant managed to consistently make over 20 appearances for Celtic in each season until his departure, demonstrating his reliability and consistency in the midfield.
In August 1997, after a successful period with Celtic, Grant transferred to Norwich City in the English Championship. The fee for his transfer was around £200k, a significant amount that reflected his talent and potential for the English side. Grant made an impactful first season with Norwich, making 35 first-team appearances and finishing with three goals. His second season also went well, with Grant making 33 appearances.
In August 1999, Grant transferred to Reading, competing in England's League One. His single season with Reading saw him make a significant number of appearances once again, playing 29 times and scoring once. The following season, in July 2000, Grant transferred to Bournemouth in the Premier League. Despite having his season cut short prematurely, he was able to make 15 appearances in the league.
Grant eventually transferred out of Bournemouth in January 2004, marking the end of his illustrious career in professional football.
