Peter Urminsky, born 24 May 1999 in Slovakia, plies his trade as a goalkeeper for the Scots club St Mirren. Standing at an imposing 6ft 4in (1.95m) and totting up the scales at 13st 5lb (85kg), Urminsky has quite the commanding presence between the sticks. He can be identified on the pitch wearing the number 27 jersey.
Urminsky began his journey in professional football at Spartak Trnava, a top flight team in Slovakia where he signed in July 2016.
His opportunity to venture beyond Slovak soil came in January 2020 when he made a transfer to St Mirren, playing in the Premiership in Scotland. The breakout 2022-2023 season at St Mirren saw Urminsky make a singular appearance in league matches. The current 2024 - 2025 season, however, has witnessed a paucity of opportunities for Urminsky, with no first team appearances to his credit.
St Mirren loaned the young keeper out in February 2021 to Ayr United in the Championship, providing a brief change of scenery for Urminsky. His stint at Ayr would be short-lived, though, as he returned to St Mirren in June 2021 upon the conclusion of his loan period.
The pattern of temporary departures for Urminsky continued as he was loaned out to Stenhousemuir in the Scottish League One in January 2022, only to return back to his base at St Mirren in February the same year.
Slight déjà vu set in as Urminsky re-visited Stenhousemuir on loan, this time in February 2022. Once again, this was a fleeting detour, with Urminsky returning to St Mirren in March 2022.
Mirroring previous patterns, Urminsky embarked on yet another loan to Stenhousemuir in March 2022. He returned to St Mirren in April 2022. Fast forward to June 2022, and Urminsky was loaned once more to Stenhousemuir, from which he once again returned to St. Mirren on loan completion.
Over the years, a pattern has emerged with Urminsky's career marked by a series of loans to Stenhousemuir. Whether this provides the stepping-stone to a more permanent position in the future remains to be seen. Notwithstanding the unsettled stint, what is beyond doubt is Urminsky's tenacity in this capricious world of football.
