Rocky Bushiri, born on the 30th of November, 1999 and presently 24, hails from Belgium. A dedicated defender, Bushiri primarily operates as a central defender for Hibernian and proudly sports the number 33 jersey on the field. Bushiri is an imposing figure, standing at 6ft 1in (1.87m) and weighing 13st 12lb (88kg). In addition to his club commitments, Bushiri has also had the honour of representing the national team of the Democratic Republic of Congo on the global stage.
Bushiri's professional journey kicked off in July 2016 when he enlisted as a trainee with Oostende in the third-tier Belgian Derde Klasse. In the 2017-2018 season, he made his debut and earned two first team appearances in league matches for Oostende.
Come August 2018, Bushiri experienced his first transition when he was transferred on loan from Oostende to Eupen in the Challenger Pro League, also in Belgium. In his first season with Eupen (2018-2019), he swiftly established himself as a mainstay, making 23 first team appearances in league matches. His footprint at Eupen would continue into the 2020-2021 season, albeit with a solitary first team appearance in the league.
In the interim, specifically in July 2019, Bushiri was transferred from Oostende to Norwich City in the English Championship, although the specifics of the deal remain undisclosed. His stint with Norwich City led to a flurry of loan moves. In August 2019, he was transferred on loan to Blackpool in England's League One, followed by Sint-Truiden in the Belgian Pro League in January 2020. He made seven first team appearances for Sint-Truiden within the 2019-2020 season.
A subsequent loan move to Mechelen in the Pro League for the 2020-2021 season yielded six first team appearances in league matches. By January 2021, Bushiri had found his way back to Eupen in the Challenger Pro League, again on loan. Here, he bolstered Eupen's defenses with 23 first team appearances in the 2018–2019 season and a single appearance in the 2020–2021 season.
Bushiri had quite a start to 2022 as he found himself transferred, yet again on loan, from Norwich City to Hibernian in the Scottish Premiership in January. A proven asset, he went on to make 14, 15, 27 and one first team appearances respectively in the subsequent 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025 seasons. In July of the same year, a more permanent deal was struck as Bushiri was transferred from Norwich City to Hibernian, yet again for an undisclosed fee. His performances from the past seasons repeated themselves with Bushiri making 14, 15, 27 and one first team appearances respectively in the 2021-2022, 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and the currently ongoing 2024-2025 season.
Aside from his league experiences, Bushiri also showcased his prowess in the cup competitions. In the League Cup 2024-2025 with Hibernian, Bushiri started two matches and played as a substitute twice. Furthermore, he started once in the Scottish Cup 2023-2024 for Hibernian. In retrospect, Bushiri’s career so far corroborates his unshakeable commitment to his role as a central defender, regardless of the Club or League he represents.
