Ross McCausland, a lad who doesn't know the joy of a compact disc or a dial-up internet connection, born on the 12th of March 2003, hails from Northern Ireland. A forward by trade, McCausland stands 1.71m (5ft 7in) in socks and toes, a height he uses to his advantage to hover around the right wing for Rangers. Weighing in at 65kg (10st 3lb), he sports the number 45 jersey or, as we prefer to see it, two glaring reminders of the year WWII ended.
In his debut season at Rangers in Scotland (2021 - 2022) – and we use the term 'debut' loosely – McCausland managed to spend enough time on the bench to leave his imprint on the wood, being sent out for only one dust-up against competitive opposition. The following season, 2022 - 2023, the lad again sampled the first team action just once, just in case you wondered if he was off doing something important elsewhere.
In the 2023 - 2024 season, it appears someone at Rangers got McCausland's squeaky wheel and gave it some grease, as he finally got a proper run out, making 29 first team appearances. Not entirely sure what they fed him, but the lad ended up netting three goals as well. Currently, in season 2024 - 2025, he has been trotted out nine times in the blue of Rangers.
But wait, there's more! McCausland also had a dabble abroad. In the League Cup 2024 - 2025, he graced the Glasgow grass twice as a substitute, managing to poke one past an unsuspecting goalkeeper. For Northern Ireland, he had a single outing in the Euro Qualifiers 2022 - 2024 and a couple more in Nations League 2024 - 2025, all logged as appearances as a substitute, mind - we wouldn't want to waste any perfectly good bench space. He also enjoyed a sojourn in Europe with Rangers in the Europa League 2023 - 2024 and 2024 - 2025. He appeared five times in total during both campaigns, scoring one goal and earning a well-deserved rest on the bench for four of the matches. Finally, in an attempt to get more tan lines, McCausland had two starts in the Champions League Qualifiers 2024 - 2025 for Rangers. Achievements? More miles on his boots, at the very least.
